A tribut to the Slovak cosmonaut

It was February 20, 1999. The Baikonur Cosmodrome was preparing for another historic mission. But this time, among the cosmonauts was a man carrying the Slovak flag into space – Col. GS, Ret. M.Eng Ivan BELLA, the first and so far the only Slovak cosmonaut.

His flight took place as part of the Štefánik mission, named after a prominent Slovak figure who played a key role in the birth of modern aviation and astronomy in Slovakia. Bella became a crew member of Soyuz TM-29, embarking on an eight-day journey to the Mir orbital station alongside Russian and French cosmonauts.

After a demanding launch and two days of flight, the crew docked with Mir. At that time, the station was the largest human-made structure in space, serving as a laboratory for various scientific experiments. Ivan Bella immediately began working on six Slovak scientific projects that were part of the mission. The most significant was the "Endotest" experiment, which examined the human body's response to stress and strain under microgravity conditions. The most well-known was the "Quail" experiment, where Bella tested the possibility of raising Japanese quails in space – an experiment aimed at exploring how humans might secure food for long-term space missions in the future.

After successfully completing his mission, on February 28, 1999, Ivan Bella returned to Earth aboard the Soyuz TM-28 module. He spent precisely 7 days, 21 hours, 56 minutes, and 19 seconds in space, orbiting Earth 125 times.

The Štefánik mission was not only a technological and scientific success but also a symbol that Slovakia, despite being a small country, has the capability and ambition to participate in major space projects. Ivan Bella became a role model for younger generations, reminding the world that Slovakia has left its mark not only in space but also here on Earth.

"From Slovakia to the Stars: A Journey of Triumph"

Twenty-six years ago, Ivan Bella became the first Slovak cosmonaut, forever etching Slovakia’s name in the history of space exploration. As a tribute to this extraordinary achievement, we have created a limited edition of the Biatec Majestic - Ivan Bella LE watch, produced in only 100 pieces.

This timepiece is a true collector’s gem. Its uniqueness is accentuated by a dial crafted from aventurine, a rare stone that, with its sparkling reflections, resembles the infinite universe. Aventurine is extremely challenging to process, especially at a thickness of just 0.2 mm, but the result is worth it – capturing the beauty and mystery of the cosmos into which Ivan Bella ventured.

The Biatec Majestic - Ivan Bella LE is more than just a watch. It is a reminder of courage, achievement, and national pride.

This exceptional limited edition is now available for pre-order at a special early-bird price.
