Taking Care of Your Watch

What Should I Avoid as a Biatec Watch Owner?

Shocks

While all Biatec watches undergo rigorous testing for durability, violent shocks should be avoided. Strong impacts may not only affect the appearance of your watch but can also lead to premature wear of materials and components, which may impact performance.

Extreme Temperatures

Avoid exposing your watch to temperatures above 50°C/122°F or below 0°C/32°F, as well as sudden temperature changes. A sharp fluctuation in temperature can cause condensation to form under the crystal.

Magnetism

Keep your watch away from strong magnetic fields generated by electronic devices such as speakers, refrigerators, mobile phones, and magnetic clasps on bags or boxes. Magnetic exposure may affect timekeeping accuracy, causing your watch to run slow, fast, or stop completely. Additionally, we recommend removing your watch before passing through airport body scanners. If your watch becomes magnetized, a professional watchmaker can perform a simple demagnetization process and restore its accuracy.

Corrosive Materials

Avoid direct contact with acids, perfumes, carbonated beverages, and other corrosive substances, as they can damage the water-resistant seals and exterior finish.

Setting the Date

To prevent damage to the movement, do not adjust the date or month between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM.

Can I Wear My Biatec Watch While Playing Sports?

Biatec watches are designed for daily wear and tested for durability. However, we do not recommend wearing them while engaging in high-impact sports such as tennis, golf, or activities that involve strong vibrations or shocks to the wrist, as these may affect the movement's performance.

What is the Water Resistance of My Biatec Watch?

Your watch’s water resistance rating is engraved on the case back or specified in the owner’s manual.

Before exposing your watch to water, please ensure:

  • Its water resistance is checked by a Biatec Official Service Centre within 12 months of purchase.
  • The crown is fully pushed in or screwed down (for screw-down crown models).
  • Although our leather straps offer superior water resistance compared to standard leather straps, we do not recommend wearing them in water, especially in saltwater environments. If exposed to saltwater, rinse your watch with fresh water and dry it immediately.

Water Resistance Guide:

RatingSuitable Activities
30m / 100ftSplashes only
50m / 165ftShowering
100m / 333ftSwimming & Snorkeling
200m+ / 660ftDiving & Deep-Sea Diving

How Often Should I Wind My Biatec Watch?

Hand-Wound Watches

Wind your watch daily until you feel slight resistance from the crown. Do not force the crown further, as overwinding can cause damage.

Automatic Watches

These watches self-wind while being worn. However, if the watch has not been used for some time, you can manually wind it by turning the crown in the neutral position.

To maintain optimal performance, we recommend winding your mechanical watch (automatic or hand-wound) at least once a month, even if not in use, to keep the movement well-lubricated.

How Can I Clean My Biatec Watch?

  • Clean your watch every 2–3 months using warm water, rinse it with fresh water, and dry it with a soft cloth.
  • This simple cleaning routine prevents corrosion and abrasive damage from chlorine, seawater, sand, and perfumes.
  • For leather straps, we recommend using specialized leather care products from brands such as Heli or other reputable manufacturers.

Important Instructions for Returns

  • DO NOT send your watch box—it is heavy and costly to ship.
  • Only send the watch and its stamped warranty card.
  • Wrap the watch securely in bubble wrap and place it inside a solid carton box.
  • Use a courier service such as FedEx or UPS, ensuring that your package is fully insured, trackable, and properly packed.

How Often Should I Service My Biatec Watch?
